OK, I have already said the ocean was my favorite place to be. But sunflowers are one of my favorite things to paint. I don’t even know where to begin. Since I have been painting, if I came anywhere near a sunflower, or a field of them, I would have to back up the car and just start taking pictures. Sometimes I would get lucky enough to paint them from life but so often I would see them on the road to some other place. Put it this way, my husband has gotten really really good at backing up. He does not even complain any more, I think he loves them as much as most of us. What could contain more brightness, than a face of the sunflower that follows the sun all day. What could symbolize HOPE more than the color yellow; when looking at them they seem to shout, “KEEP DREAMING”! Each sunflower seems to have its very own personality. When I paint them, I pretend they are people with individual attitudes. Some I imagine sassy, some introspective, some full of themselves. This particular painting of a field of sunflowers I felt like the upfront sunflowers were students in a class room with their hands up saying, “pick me, pick me”! I guess that is why I called it front row seats.
