When a group of coy are swimming around in a little fountain with the sun shining on them, they make quite a sight. The color of the coy and the way the ripples catch the light are what caught my eye here. I loved the way the reeds bent over and cast their shadows on the bottom and give a depth to the picture plane. This little pond is outside the gallery that represents my work (the Sanders Gallery) in Tucson AZ. I am sure the gallery owner could not figure out what was taking so long for me to get the next load of paintings that I was delivering. Oh well, when you see something and it is just the right lighting, and is screaming out to be painted, I have found you have to seize the moment! I found that waiting till it is convenient to take a photo is one way to miss a really good image. Things are so fleeting; I found it is better to just have my camera with me at all times.
